I’m a confessed taphophile (happily) doomed to wander at every opportunity beyond the gates and amidst the rows of New England.  I’ve had a fascination with cemeteries my whole life. I love the solitude they afford… the beauty… the architecture… the aura… and the history.  Several years ago, I moved away from gravestone rubbing to photography and, since the advent of GPS systems, I’ve been endeavoring to expand my horizons. The web, however, did not turn out to be the infinite source of itinerary stops I had hoped.

Sure, there are endless numbers of sites on the big taphophilic landmarks – Mt. Auburn, Bonaventure, etc. For the local roamers, though, stationed in northern New England, there was little. I wanted to find a repository of info on New England’s prime spots. Photographs, descriptions, interesting tidbits.

Yet, there was scant, if any, information to be found.

So, I’ve taken it upon myself through this blog,  to try and bring such a central source into being. In posting tales of my own travels, and sharing my best shots and insights from each, I hope that you – my fellow crawlers – will share through your comments here, as well. If that happens as I envision, this will be the beginning of every New England taphophile’s dream… one-stop cemetery shopping on the web.

Won’t you join me?
